Easil’s Brand Restrictions bring a new level of control to your entire team from micro businesses to large, multiple-team corporations. Create and control how member of your team edit and share your custom team designs – element by element. Once set, Brand Restrictions define which layers, elements, fonts, colors and images can be edited – in seconds. All you need to do is toggle the padlock icon on or off for each item. You will need to have a ‘Designer’ permission applied to your role in order to be able to control the restrictions.
To access locking functionality, click the Lock icon in the sidebar. There are two tabs/sections which are described below.
A locked item is signified by a locked icon, and shows that that editing option will not be available by team Members who do not have ‘Designer’ role applied.
An unlocked item is shown with an unlocked icon. This results in any user being able to freely apply that option to the template.
A partially locked item is shown with a semi-lock icon. This means some controls are available, while other actions are restricted. For example, your team’s designers may lock down an element’s styling and placement, while still allowing the content, such as text or image content, to be modified.
Applying Restrictions to your Designs
Restrictions are applied to elements in your design, as well as entire document restrictions. Below we explain the differences between each. You will notice that as you apply restrictions to your document, they will immediately appear for you within your working document as well, with options being removed from the Actionbar, or, greyed out from the sidebar, instantly providing a block to that type of editing.
Document Restrictions
When there are no design elements selected, the ‘Document’ tab will be the active tab. This section allows you to control restrictions that apply to the entire design.
Clicking the Select/unselect all option will toggle on/off all the options.
Add Non-Brand Colors: When locked, team Members will not be able to add colors that are not in the Brand Kit.
Add Non-Brand Fonts: When locked, team Members will not be able to add fonts that are not in the Brand Kit.
Background Color: When locked, the background color of the document is unable to be updated.
Add Text: When locked, new text boxes will not be able to be added to the design. This applies to both your own uploaded fonts, and also Brand fonts.
Add Images & Videos: When locked, images and videos will not be able to be added to the design.
Arrange Layers: When locked the order of design elements (layers) is unable to be changed.
Add Non-Brand Images: When locked, non-brand images will not be able to be added to the design.
Add Elements: When locked, elements such as graphics and shapes will not be able to be added to the design.
Resize & Copy: When locked, the design will not be able to be resized into a new design or copied into a new design.
Add Custom Colors: When locked, no new colors can be introduced into the design. The only colors available will be ones that are already implemented in the design.
Assets Templates: When locked, template assets will not be able to be accessed or added to the design.
Assets Favorites: When locked, favorited assets will not be able to be accessed or added to the design.
Layouts: When locked, replacing the current page’s design or adding a new design as a new page will be disabled.
Add Pages: When locked, adding a new page to the design is disabled.
Save to Favorites: When locked, the user will not be able to add any elements from the Template to their Favorites tab.
Add Links: When locked, links will not be able to be added to elements in the design.
Add Animations: When locked, animations will not be able to be added to the design.
Element (Text, Graphics, Images)
With the lock tab active in the sidebar, selecting an individual element will activate that elements lock settings. Any changes you make to an individual items lock settings only apply to the currently selected item.
Clicking the Select/unselect all option will toggle on/off all the options.
Delete: When locked, the element will be unable to be deleted from the design.
Add: When locked, the element will be unable to be added by an update from another design in the same collection.
Show/Hide: When locked, the element will be unable to be hidden from visibility via the layers tab.
Opacity: When locked, the element will be unable to have its opacity settings changed.
Blend Mode: When locked, the element will be unable to have its blend mode changed.
Rotate: When locked the element will be unable to be rotated or have its angle changed.
Duplicate: When locked, the element will be unable to be duplicated, copied or cloned.
Text Edit: When locked, the text in the text box will be unable to be edited/changed.
Size & Position: When locked, the element will not be able to be resized, stretched or repositioned.
Image Replace: When locked, the image (or images within this element) will be unable to be changed/replaced.
Position: When locked, the position of the element will be unable to be changed.
Filters: When locked, filters will not be able to be changed on any images within this element.
Outline: When locked, the element outline will be unable to be changed.
Flip: When locked the element will be unable to be flipped.
Crop: When locked, the image (or images within this element) will be unable to be cropped.
Color: When locked, the color of the element will be unable to be changed.
Set as Background: When locked, the image will be unable to be used as a background image.
Font Family: When locked, the font of the text box will be unable to be changed.
Font Size: When locked, the font size of the text box will be unable to be changed.
Text Decoration: When locked, the bold, italic and underline styling of the text in the text box will be unable to be changed.
Curve Text: When locked, curved text settings will be unable to be changed.
Text Mask: When locked, the text masking features of the text box will be unable to be changed.
Letter Spacing: When locked, the letter spacing settings of the text box will be unable to be changed.
Line Height: When locked, the line height settings of the text box will be unable to be changed.
Border: When locked, border settings will be unable to be changed.
Border Radius: When locked, rounded corner settings will be unable to be changed.
Text Align: When locked, the text alignment will be unable to be changed.
Text Boundary: When locked, any text input into the box is limited to the text box size set by the designer. By default, this option locks all the common brand requirements of Position, Font Family, Font Size, Letter Spacing, Line Height, and Text Align with one click, but can also have those options manually toggled off.
Element Align: When locked, the element alignment options will be unable to be changed.
Cell Style: When locked, table cell styling will be unable to be changed.
Edit Row Layout: When locked, table row layout options will be unable to be changed.
Edit Column Layout: When locked, table column layout options will be unable to be changed.
Edit QR Code Content: When locked, the QR code content will be unable to be changed.
Animations: When locked, animations on the element will be unable to be changed.
Caption Style: When locked, caption styling will be unable to be changed.
Caption Colors: When locked, caption colors will be unable to be changed.
Caption Edit: When locked, caption text will be unable to be changed.
Line Style: When locked, line styling will be unable to be changed.
