Style captions in Easil

Captions can be styled after they have been added to a design. Use the caption style options to choose how much caption text is shown at once, how each caption appears, and which preset best suits your video design.

Change a caption style

  1. Open your design in the Easil editor.
  2. Select a caption on the canvas.
  3. Select Caption Style in the Actionbar.
  4. Choose one of the preset caption styles, or select the caption mode and animation you want to use.

The selected preset is outlined in the Caption Style popout, making it easy to see which style is currently applied.

Caption presets

Caption presets apply a combination of display mode, animation, background color, and highlight color in one click.

Available presets include:

  • Standard
  • Focus
  • Simple
  • Single
  • Progressive

Use the arrows in the Caption Style popout to move through the available presets.

Caption modes and animations

Use caption modes to control how captions are displayed:

  • Sentence shows caption text in sentence sections.
  • Word focuses the caption display word by word.
  • Progressive builds the caption text progressively as the video plays.

Use caption animations to control how captions appear. Options include Appear, Fade In, Rise, and Zoom.

View caption text

Select View Captions from the Caption Style popout to open the captions panel and review the caption text.

Locked caption styling

If caption styling has been locked on a team template, the Caption Style controls are unavailable. You may still be able to use the design, but the caption style can only be changed by someone with permission to edit that template.
